Monserrato was founded in 1973 to realize the dream of Francesco Zecchina, a Neapolitan builder passionate about wine, who a few years earlier decided to realize his passion on the hills between Benevento and Pietrecina, at the foot of Mount Serrato.
With the help of a young friend and farmer, he started planting tobacco and olive trees, halfway up the hill and south-facing, on an area of ​​60 hectares, watered exclusively with spring water. At the end of the 80s, the production was of tobacco, olives, and grapes, while oil and wine were produced for friends and relatives.
After a period of transition, the company has been entrusted in recent years to Paola and Lucio, Francesco's daughter and nephew, and a company modernization process has been launched with the aim of introducing new indigenous vines, expanding the olive-growing area and the replacement of tobacco production with ancient and organic crops, a sincere and historic expression of the territory. Currently, three oil labels and a line of five wine labels are produced from the company's olive groves and vineyards.
