Capitol Tinto Joven

Capitol Young Red is a refreshingly fruity red with a special finesse and aromatic nuances as well as strong colour and good texture. The must is fermented in contact with the grape skins over 28 days allowing a good tannic structure to be drawn out and giving the wine its superb colour while preserving the unique personality of the Tempranillo variety. Aromas of ripe fruit such as raspberries or red currants. Very flavourful in the mouth, balanced, rich in fruity aromas, big and tenacious with hints of strawberry and liquorice. Capitol Tinto Joven is made at the Padró family winery just south of Barcelona, where over five generations the family have distilled spirits, made wines (including mistelas and other fortified wines) and become masters of vermouth. On the wine side, the family now specialises in making light, fruity Mediterranean-style wines, each one representing something of who the family are. The family vineyards are located within the Tarragona Denominación de Orígen, the oldest D.O. in Catalonia. Tarraco, today’s Tarragona, was one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire. It was also a main centre for wine production at the time and wines from Tarraco were highly prized and exported all around the Empire, even to Rome itself. The excellent quality of Tarragona’s wine has been maintained to this day through careful attention to the vines and general good practice. Our Capitol brand is a tribute to those wines produced in our area in Roman times.
