The activity was born in 1930 when Ernesto Mazzoleni, owner of a small workshop in Bellano, started Ripening gorgonzola and taleggio using the natural air of Valsassina. Immediately flanked by his son, Lucio, who was only thirteen, he started distributing his cheeses with the help of a cart on neighbouring countries.
Mazzoleni Formaggi is a company which ages typical cheese of the Lombardy region, for instance Taleggio DOP and Gorgonzola DOP. Their cheeses are distributed in major Italian chains and recognized as premium products by customers themselves.
Today, the company is led with the same passion and care by Livio Mazzoleni, grandson of the founder Ernesto, together with his sister Laura and his wife Danila. And yet Taleggio is still the heart of their production, made with the same love and passion as at the time.
The most important stages of the production of the taleggio are still manually carried out by expert cheesemakers .
