The 1990s have just begun. Computers are starting to make their way into homes, marking a time of innovation and progress for everyone. It is in this context that Amica Chips is born—a visionary project by Alfredo Moratti. Together with a friend, he establishes this small company in Castiglione delle Stiviere, which will soon rise to fame. The two introduce their crisps to leading supermarkets, and success comes instantly: within just a year, Amica Chips enters the large-scale retail market. These are years of experimentation, with new recipes and snacks expanding the Amica Chips range. Acquisitions soon follow. Amica Chips takes over Dorita, a Mantua-based snack brand, seamlessly welcoming it into its circle of best “Amiche.” The company continues to grow, acquiring Pandal, a Milanese brand specialising in snacks, croutons, and cornflakes. All production is moved to Castiglione delle Stiviere. Amica Chips has now become a leader in the crisp market—a company spanning 40,000 square metres, with over 250 employees and a turnover exceeding €89 million.
