On the 21st – 27th November, National Italian Food Week will take place in 146 countries all around the globe. For a whole week, the world will eat and learn about real Italian cuisine, with major companies, organizations and trade associations will be promoting Italian cuisine through a series of world-wide events. In the Netherlands, authentic Made-in-Italy will be represented by Bellavita Expo Amsterdam 2016. As well as showcasing a smorgasbord of authentic Made-in-Italy food and wine, the two-day long show will also see a range of events all centered around Italian cuisine.
Taste real Neapolitan pizza with Starita – one of Italy’s most iconic pizzerias – who will be cooking their traditional recipe and letting everyone enjoy authentic Italian food. Starita began in 1901 and has since become the epitome of Neapolitan tradition, even winning an award from the Pope in 2000. Talking about the importance of spreading Italian food culture around the world, Peppe Starita, son of third-generation owner of the revered Pizzeria Antonio Starita, states that: “Italian food culture is superior and many try to imitate it. We must share it – especially the Southern culture – and keep the family traditions concerning it intact.” The secret to their world-famous recipe? “High quality raw materials”, of course.
To scout out your own high-quality ingredients and taste what authentic Italy has to offer, come celebrate National Italian Food Week at Bellavita. Starita also appeared at the London edition of Bellavita Expo last summer, saying that “Bellavita is a family. In Amsterdam we hope to continue our success and make our product known all over the world.”
Bellavita Expo Amsterdam 2016 will also be hosting trade-based discussions on Italian wine. In the Wine Academy, Jacqueline Snoeker (Owner of Vinergy and previously the Sourcing Senior Director of Drinks at Albert Heijn) will lead the talk with a panel of top Dutch wine buyers. They will discuss wine trends in the Netherlands, the position of Italian wine in the Netherlands, the performance of different regions/wine types in Italy, with a particular focus on Southern Italy. The panel will include Joep Speet (Pallas Wines Buyer Manager, Delta Wines Group), Tineke Jansenn (Wine Buyer at E-Luscious), Roderick Ross (PR & Marketing Manager at Wijnimport J.Bart) and Frank Donker (Wine Buying Manager at LFE Group).
There will also be a masterclass from Calabria on Southern Italian Traditions, organized by the Italian Sommelier Association, tasting an array of wines from the region. Bellavita is a celebration of authentic Italian food and wine. Come to RAI Amsterdam and celebrate National Italian food week with us on 20th & 21st November; the whole world will be talking about Italian cuisine and at Bellavita Expo, we’ll be truly experiencing it.
